Day 1 - 364 to go! Jings what is this madness that I have signed myself up for?

Well, where do I begin as Andy Williams like to chant. (name that song!)

I suppose I have been nurturing this idea for about three years now, I was quite deeply affected by the loss of a wonderful lady from my church because of cancer. I was always astounded by her strong faith although she knew she wasn't ever going to get better and that she would be taken away from everything that she loved and who, in return, loved her.

I had known her for about 18 years, and although I sometimes never saw her for a couple of years at a time, she was always the same - polite, friendly and welcoming. At times when my life has been very difficult, her warmth and kindness embraced me, it is something I have never forgotten and strive to achieve in likeness.

I know the work of Macmillan in similar situations is a life line for those who are left behind after such a devastating loss and this is my attempt to show my admiration for the work done in a palliative care situation.

Obviously my aim is to raise as much money as I can, I hope that you will stick with me, support me, laugh with (and at me), encourage and berate me but most of all PLEASE SPONSOR ME. (I will be posting my 'JustGiving' account details in a couple of days, when I can work out how to get into the bloody thing!!)
